Teeth Whitening

What is Teeth Whitening?

When your teeth are dulled, yellowed and stained, you may not like the way that you look. Professional whitening can help to lift and dissolve stains in a way that improves your confidence and your appearance. When your teeth are whiter, you’re more likely to smile and you will even look younger. We offer both in-office as well as take-home professional whitening to our patients.

Why would Teeth Whitening be needed?

Many different things can stain and dull your smile. The simple act of aging can turn a white smile into one that is dull, yellowed and unattractive. In general, if something can stain a white t-shirt, it has the ability to stain your teeth. Some of the things that can be detrimental to the brightness and beauty of your smile include:

  • Smoking
  • Chewing tobacco
  • Coffee and tea drinking
  • Drinking other dark beverages, like soda or fruit juice
  • Poor oral hygiene
  • Certain medications
  • Aging

Who Is A Candidate For Teeth Whitening

Who is a candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Most otherwise healthy adult patients are good candidates for whitening. Dr. Bloom will first examine your teeth to ensure that no other treatment is needed. If your teeth are decayed or require other restorative treatments, it’s recommended that you care for the health of your teeth first before the appearance of them. However, our take-home and in-office whitening is ideal for most patients wanting to brighten their appearance.

What happens during Teeth Whitening?

For in-office whitening, you’ll come into the office and be seated comfortably. A professional-grade whitening gel formula is added to the teeth. A light is used to help brighten the teeth and activate the whitening gel. After about an hour, you will experience a smile that is many shades whiter than when you first came in. For take-home whitening, we will create custom-made trays using impressions of your teeth. These trays are comfortable to wear and can be used in conjunction with a quality whitening gel that we offer in our office. You will be instructed on how long and how often to do whitening at home using these trays.

If you would like to transform your smile with professional whitening, call us today so that we can get you into our office with low, convenient wait times.
