Clear Aligners

What are Clear Aligners?

Clear aligners are a great way to straighten your smile and improve your confidence. These aligners are easy to wear, completely removable and incredibly effective when it comes to straightening a crowded, spaced or crooked smile. Clear aligners are ideal for patients of all ages. Treatment is often quicker than other methods, so it’s great for patients wanting a quick and effective approach to orthodontics.

Why are Clear Aligners needed?

You may need clear aligner treatment if your teeth are crowded, crooked, misaligned or unevenly spaced. Treatment utilizes virtually clear aligners that will apply pressure to the teeth when worn. Over time, the teeth are pushed into better alignment. This helps when it comes to being able to brush and floss more efficiently.

Who Is A Candidate For Clear Aligners

Who is a candidate for Clear Aligners?

Most patients are good candidates for clear aligners. Younger kids and teens who may forget to replace the aligners after removing them may not be suitable for treatment. Most often, teens and adults are better candidates for this particular type of orthodontic treatment. Dr. Bloom can examine your teeth to determine if clear aligners are right for you.

What happens during treatment using Clear Aligners?

Clear aligner treatment will begin with an exam and consultation. Oftentimes, x-rays are taken to ensure that we are able to create a personalized treatment plan. We then take impressions of your teeth and use these to make your first set of aligners. You will need to wear these aligners for about 22 hours each day. You will then need to come back in every few weeks for new aligners to be made over the course of treatment. Clear aligner treatment typically takes anywhere from six months to about a year and a half, though this will vary from one patient to the next and depends on how severe their orthodontic problems currently are.
