Root Canal Treatment Sheboygan

Do you remember the old black and white cartoons when a big scary dentist would solve your toothache simply by pulling it out?! Yikes! Thankfully advances in the dental field such as endodontic treatment (or root canal therapy) is now used by dentists to effectively treat and save infected or decayed teeth before they ever risk being lost. When the pulp inside the tooth becomes inflamed or infected your tooth can feel painful and your gums may swell. A root canal procedure clears infection from the inside of the tooth, alleviating pain and preventing further infection or damage.

If left untreated an infected tooth can destroy the tooth’s pulp and bacteria can travel into the jaw bone. If you have a faulty crown, have experienced any damage or decay to the tooth or teeth or have encountered a dental emergency, our root canal therapy can recover your tooth or teeth back to their ideal health and prevent further damage or infection. After root canal treatment patients can return to normal, pain free living after finding relief of their toothache using root canal therapy.

Does it Hurt?

The words “root canal” used to be enough to send a patient running out the door! But if worrying about root canal therapy has you hiding from the office rest assured that that most patients who undergo root canal therapy today report feeling virtually no pain. At Bloom Family Dental, our safe and effective root canal therapy and calming sedative dentistry techniques can help any patient feel relaxed and comfortable as their teeth are restored to their ideal health.

How does Root Canal Therapy Work?

During root canal therapy, Dr. Bloom will administer a local anesthetic and carefully remove the source of your pain—the infected pulp inside the tooth. He then removes any parts of the tooth that are damaged or infected and cleans the affected area. After the tooth is properly disinfected a rubberlike substance called gutta-percha is used to fill the tooth and a cement sealant secures the tooth to prevent future bacteria from entering the treated area.

Dr. Bloom will then fill the tooth and place a temporary crown to preserve the structural integrity of the tooth while a color matched custom crown is developed. The perfected crown will then be adjusted and polished before placement over the treated tooth, and your new tooth will look, feel, and function normally.

“Dr. Bloom flawlessly put in 3 fillings for me. He and the staff made me feel very comfortable with their level of professionalism and friendliness. From the front desk staff to the hygienists and assistants, I felt well taken care of. Dr. Bloom answered all of my questions and was kind enough to share exactly what kind of work I would be having done and why. I would recommend Bloom Family Dental to anyone who values a dentist who will treat you like family.” –Kyle G.
